The annual senior class trip was a success as we traveled to San Francisco, Alcatraz Island, Yosemite National Park, Santa Cruz, and Los Angeles while we also took the time to visit our sister universities in Pacific Union College, La Sierra University, and Loma Linda University.
At Loma Linda University, we had the opportunity to meet with HMA alumni (Dexter Emoto - '72, Pauline Cabanada - '00, Sally Millon - member at Honolulu Central, Gary Kerstetter - '73, and Kimberly Mah - '08) who shared their experiences of moving to the mainland and the work ethic needed to succeed in the medical field.
Along the way, we made sure to do a few things that are unavailable in Hawaii: eating at Olive Garden, In N Out, Shake Shack, Panera Bread, authentic Mexican food, Six Flags amusement park, broomball, and Universal Studios.
But the most important aspect of the trip was class bonding. Throughout their years of high school, there are opportunities to bond together over vespers, class competitions, socials, banquets, etc however, there is nothing like 10 days of traveling that will bring a class together.
It is our hope that the senior trip will be a source of many memories of fun, laughter, and new experiences that our students will take with them as they near a new stage of their lives.
